Per capita income was not significantly different; the median age of the sample was slightly higher than that of the area; and certain minority groups were underrepresented.
Considering that the scope of this paper is to explore purchase behaviors of Christmas gift shoppers, and not necessarily to generalize findings across all types of purchasing, we feel that the sample is adequate for the study.
